The content of this blog describes my own experience with specific technical setups. It is written to the best of my knowledge but does not replace advice for an individual case. No liability is accepted for damage arising from applying the configurations described. This applies in particular to security-related topics.

Liability for links

External links lead to content from third-party providers. The respective provider alone is responsible for that content. At the time of linking, no legal violations were apparent.

Visiting the blog

When the blog is accessed, technically necessary connection data is processed. This includes in particular the IP address, the time of access, the page requested and information about the browser used.

This processing is necessary in order to deliver the blog and to ensure secure and stable operation. The connection data listed above is stored in an access log on my own server. The log is rotated once it reaches a fixed size and is deleted automatically after 30 days at the latest. It serves operations, troubleshooting and assessing which search engines retrieve the blog. It is not passed on to third parties.

The blog runs on my own infrastructure in Switzerland.

Cookies and local settings

The blog currently sets no tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.

The chosen light or dark colour scheme is stored in the browser's local storage under the keytheme. That setting stays on the visitor's device and is not transmitted to the server.

Contact by email

If you get in touch by email, the information you send is used to handle and answer your message.

Email is received through Gmail, operated by Google Ireland Limited. Google may therefore process the email address, message content, attachments and technical metadata, including on servers outside Switzerland.

Emails are retained for as long as is necessary to handle the enquiry, for further correspondence, or to meet legal obligations.

Web analytics

Matomo, an open-source web analytics package, is used for statistical evaluation of page views. Matomo runs on my own infrastructure in Switzerland; no data is transmitted to third parties.

Collection works without cookies. The IP address is anonymised before storage, so it can no longer be traced to an individual. What is recorded includes the pages visited, the referrer, browser and device information, and the time of access.

Rights of data subjects

Within the scope of applicable data protection law, data subjects may request information about the personal data processed about them, as well as its correction or deletion.

Such requests can be sent to the email address given above.
